About

Now that I’m retired from my day job I have time to release the artist that’s always been wanting to get out. During my career I took art courses whenever I was able and used my artistic skills at home and at work. Now I have the time to indulge in my dream goals almost full time.

My work centers around quilting and garment construction. The larger bed quilts are usually based on a pattern of some sort with my own twist; for instance, choice of color. The wall quilts are usually original designs. Some of this designing and creativity filters over into the jackets and vests that I make. I fashion my creations for their intended use. Bed quilts are constructed with an eye toward use and longevity: Art quilts on the premise that these will be hung for decoration: and Wearable Art so that it is truly wearable. My garments, when they are padded and quilted, remain light and pliant. Children’s garments are meant to be comfortable and useable. Home decorative items take into account the service they will provide.

I have several sewing machines, all of which, except the embroidery machine which is computerized, are operated manually. For knitting and crochet, my machines are my hands. I have been knitting so long that my stitches are hard to distinguish from machine work.

I have been awarded an Honorable Mention award for my “Pieces of the Far East” at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival XXI Wearable Art Competition. There is a picture of the coat in the gallery. I had a showing of my wall hangings at Art on Main, Gt Barrington, MA, February 20 to April 3, 2009. and one of my original outfits was accepted for display in the Wearable Art Competition at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival XX. There was also a show of hangings and thread paintings in the TD Bank in Great Barrington, MA during the month of October, 2010 and again in June, 2013.

Take a look at my wares. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, ask me to design the product for you. For custom designs I usually draw three to four proposals for you to choose from after you have given me a basic idea of what you’re looking for.
